Located on Shelburne Road in Shelburne, Vermont, this museum is known for its diversity and as well as how it features over 150,000 works. They have so many artistic works to showcase that they spread them among 38 exhibition buildings, 25 of those buildings being considered historic and were even relocated at some point. They feature all art anywhere from folk art, furniture, decorative arts, Impressionist paintings, and artifacts from the 17th-20th centuries.
The museum was founded in 1947 by Electra Havemeyer Webb, as she was a well known collector of American folk art. Aside from bringing art into the hearts of fans everywhere, adding educational programs, and for her museum being known as one of the finest art museums in the country, Electra Havemeyer Webb also surrounded the museum in a unique way with beautiful landscaping everywhere. By unique we mean over 400 lilacs, an heirloom and herb vegetable garden, a perennial garden, and even a circular formal garden.
