Paris born, French painter Theodore Rousseau was well known for his landscape paintings. He had a hard life that often showed throughout his work, as each painting seemed to have a dab of melancholy in it.
Rousseau would take so much time developing his paintings which explains why his paintings are so few.
His most notable works include The Charcoal Burner's Hut, Les chênes d'Apremont, The Little Fisherman, and Sunset in the Forest.
He died in 1867 at the age of 55.
